Mention the Alps, and more likely than not you'll think Swiss. Switzerland isn't home to the largest portion of the Alps, but it is so synonymous with the mountain range that it's also a natural when it comes to skiing and snowboarding vacations. When fresh, frosty snowfalls blanket those majestic mountains, it's time to dust off the snowboard, pull out your credit card and book a snowboard getaway to Switzerland.

So where do you go for heart-pumping snowboarding action, cozy accommodations, cuisine to satisfy your taste buds and tons of other Alpine activities to fill the days and nights of your holiday? Here are some of the Swiss resorts where snowboarders are guaranteed to have a great time.

Zermatt sits in the shadow of the famous Matterhorn in the southwest corner of Switzerland. It offers snowboarders 313km of runs as well as a half pipe and a snowboard/jibbing park. When you take a break from hitting the slopes, enjoy the breathtaking view of 38 peaks reaching 4,000 meters.

Another internationally known Swiss resort is Davos. Snowboarders will enjoy 315km of slope runs, a half pipe and a snowboard/jibbing park. The snowboard and ski runs have something to offer all levels from beginners to advanced.

Would you like to take the same slopes as the British and Swedish royal families? Then plan your snowboard getaway to Klosters. It's not the cheapest resort you could choose, but its incredibly clean air, delightful panoramas, exciting snowboard and ski runs, a half pipe and a snowboard/jibbing park make it worth your money.

At the foot of Switzerland's highest mountains, the Mischabel chain, Saas-Fee Resort offers all the best in a ski and snowboard destination. One hundred runs are rated blue, red and black. Between trips down the mountain, try your skill in the halfpipe or show your stuff at the snowboard/jibbing park. Saas-Fee is one of Switzerland's ski villages that is designated car-free, so it has retained a lot of its romantic and quiet charm.

The gorgeous valley location of Pontresina makes it a desirable snowboarding destination. Eighty-eight ski/snowboard runs, a halfpipe, and a snowboard/jibbing park provide those here to enjoy their snowboard to the fullest with all the fun they can handle. Its natural beauty is enough to make you want to take plenty of pictures so you can revisit your snowboard vacation over and over.
