The ski
resort of Abondance is one of the three villages in Northern Haute Savoie about
10 miles south of the east end of Lake Geneva and comprises Richebourg,
Abondance and Chapelle la Abondance.
The villages are all linked by lift to the Portes du Soleil. The area is within one hour of Geneva airport and is the most
northerly in the French Alps. Although the village is quite low at 2700ft, the
snow fall is remarkably good.
The Portes du Soleil domaine offers vast network of hundreds of
kilometers of marked and groomed pistes (650 kilometers or some 360
miles), plus abundant off-piste skiing. From Avoriaz it is possible to
ski over the French Swiss border down to the charming village of Champery.
