The purpose built resort of Avoriaz lies high up
near the Swiss border and the resort of Champery. It is part of the extensive Portes du Soleil area of the Northern French Alps. The snow is always superb and the off piste
exceptional. (The off piste in Champery has a reputation for being the
best in the Alps.) The famous Wall is a very tough black run dropping a thousand feet
over the Swiss border down to Champery with some very large
moguls, but there is great scope for all standards on the French side.
There is more skiing information about the Portes du Soleil on the Morzine,
les Gets, and St Jean d'Aulps pages,
as well as the more northern resorts of Abondance and Chatel.
There are currently no listings for Avoriaz, but we
