The village of St Jean d'Aulps (alt. 700 metres) is a pleasant
alpine community offering a quiet backwater to the large resorts of the
Portes du Soleil - Morzine, les Gets
and Avoriaz - all under 15 minutes
drive away. The skiing detailed below for St Jean d'Aulps is on the Grand
Terche which is a five minute drive. The village is a lot cheaper than
its more sophisticated neighbours.
The Grande Terche is very good for beginners and that is why it is
detailed here. It is limited, but the Ardon lift, central to the Portes
du Soleil access, is only a ten minute drive.
