The village of Valmorel is an attractive purpose built village
designed with a lot more sympathy than some of the other French ski
resorts. Less than an hour from Chambery airport and situated to the
north west of the Three Valleys in Savoie, it is an excellent place to
learn, and an ideal skiing holiday area for families.
Valmorel is well designed with a cobbled, traffic-free main street
featuring traditional local wood and stone buildings where there are
plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. There is scope for more advanced
skiers and the off piste can be excellent. It is possible to ski off the
top of Valmorel down to the Three Valley ski resort of St Martin de
Belleville with a short taxi ride to finish.
