Situated to the east of the Frejus tunnel linking Italy with France, la Norma is a small car free resort next the Italian border. Lying south of the Three Valleys ski area and the Parc de la Vanoise, it is within easy reach of Lyon and Chambery, and within 2.5 hrs of Geneva.
Nestling in the trees, it was purpose built (only 2400 beds) in the 70s but has a friendly atmosphere and is well suited for families and is a lot more affordable than the ski resorts of the Three Valleys to the north.
The skiing is limited compared to the larger French ski resorts but the snowboarding is good and there is the opportunity for some very good off piste and back country helicopter skiing.
