Our SELF CATERED CHALET
Bernex is a collection of small villages (alt. 1000m) in the Chablais region of northern Haute Savoie; the area has a surprisingly good snow record. There are spectacular views over Lake Geneva, and from the highest station looking south, the massif of Mont Blanc.
Bernex is a popular ski area for beginners and has ten kilometres of prepared cross country skiing. Winter walking is also popular, together with sleigh rides and sledging.
It has the advantage of being a lot cheaper than many larger resorts further south, is under an hour from Geneva, and is only a thirty minute drive form Abondance and Chatel, which hitches into the Portes du Soleil ski area.
As befits a small resort it has a quiet and pleasant atmosphere - there are several good restaurants and bars - and is popular area in the summer.
