Travel
Coaches will be used as the main method of transport between
your school and the Alps. The advantages, for most organisers, clearly
outweigh the disadvantages:
 |
There is only one collection and storage of bags on each journey.
Control headaches are kept to a minimum.
An evening arrival at the Dover Ferry Terminal allows a natural
break for an evening meal and likewise breakfast on the return journey.
The coach can be used for bussing the group to the ski hire shop,
to the slopes and back again each day, and also for evening
entertainments if necessary.
The cost is half that of a flight and transfer. |
The main
disadvantage is the length of travel and we want to keep the discomfort to a
minimum. This was an important consideration when choosing les Diablerets.
As a rule we will try to board a ferry between 1800 and 1900 on the
outbound journey (either Friday or Saturday), so that departure times from
your school are worked backwards depending on where you are in the country.
This means an arrival time in les Diablerets mid morning the following day.
We would ensure that all our coach service providers are fully insured
and compliant with current EU regulations and have full back up and liaison
with European coach companies in case of breakdown.
We would insist
that in-coach discipline is strictly adhered to, such as use of seat
belts and not allowing the maximum capacity to be exceeded. |
 |
From experience we know that coach groups will usually be made up of
around forty students, four teacher and friends' assistants, the group leader,
and any instructors designated to teach the school.
Flights will be used at the client's request. If we are unable
to obtain an ATOL licence by the start of the season we would need to use
third party carriers and this would reflect in the unit cost.
We would be flexible on the price for Self Drive and Train
clients.
The coach will be on hand for transport for out of town excursions.
