Introduction
We are a group of committed skiers, mostly highly qualified
instructors and some with a comprehensive knowledge of the ski holiday
business, who
would like to upgrade the quality of school group skiing and school ski
trips in two distinct
aspects.
These are
- finding snow sure resorts, easily accessible from the UK and
- developing the children's competitive spirit whilst they are
on holiday.
We believe above all that 'Skiing is Fun', and when conducted
efficiently and safely in the right conditions, can give children an
experience they are unlikely to forget. By generating competitive spirit
not only will it help them to stand up to future challenges, but may even
get them interested in competitive skiing.
Initial Project - The Resort
After a lot of searching for the initial resort, we have decided to
base the first year operation in les Diablerets (The Little
Devils - not the reason for choosing this resort!) in western Switzerland.
Dynamic Map:

Les Diablerets is both the name of the ski resort and the mountain on
which it is situated in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, in the
easternmost area of the Canton of Vaud.

It is one of the smaller resorts in Switzerland, but links through to
both Villars and Leysin, which together form the Glacier-Alpes Vaudoises
skiing area, and greatly opens up the skiing.
Les Diablerets meanwhile, is a beautiful unspoilt and friendly village of
comfortable hotels, wooden chalets and traditional farm buildings,
dominated by the majestic Diablerets Glacier (Glacier 3000). This gives
the resort its snow sure status.
The Alpes Vaudoises area scores very well for beginners giving them
access to nearly 50% of the slopes. In all there are 220 km of piste and
114 runs to choose from, breaking down into 53 for beginners, 52 for
intermediates and 12 for advanced skiers.
Les Diablerets gives access to 74 lifts in total; 3 gondolas, 4 cable
cars, 21 chair lifts and 46 drag lifts. There are 29 mountain restaurants
scattered across the area.
In fact, the 'Glacier-Alpes Vaudoises' ski pass allows access to over 500 km of
piste.
If this is not enough then for a small extra charge, it is possible to
ski in Gstaad, 15 km away, as well as the Lenk-Adelboden region.
