The Snow Train with Rail Europe
- Better than Flying! |
The
overnight snow train to the main ski resorts in the French Alps, with
the couchettes and disco and a sleepless night (possibly because of
the excitement but more likely because of the noise), is not running
this year.
Instead
you can take the The Eurostar Direct Ski Train, a day or overnight
service, which is almost the same but without the couchettes and disco.
There is an option to upgrade to first class with larger reclining
seats if you want to get a good night's sleep.
The overnight snow train, which leaves on a Friday night from London
and ends up in Bourg St Maurice gives you a full eight days skiing,
leaving the following Saturday in the evening. The high speed daytime
service takes seven and a half hours to Moutiers and has to be the
option, especially if you live near London, to Saturday airport
mayhem. Not only that - it's green!
•Night Snow Train - operates from
1 January until 2 April 2012.
•High-speed day service - operates from 19 December 2009 until
10 April 2012.
